Crushed Spirits

You know how you always had that one special memory from when you were a kid. It was so special that you could never forget it no matter how hard you tired.

For me that memory wasn't one single event. It was a whole season.........Christmas. I loved Christmas since before I could even remember. I always left Santa a huge plate of cookies on Christmas Eve and the reindeer got carrots. Heck even Saint Nicolas got cookies cuz he shouldn't get left out of all the fun.

Well my memory was Christmas and more spacifically going to see and old holiday movie with my dad. Every year we've gone to the old Times Cinema and seen whatever holiday movie they were playing that year.

Well this year that ain't happening. Dad doesn't want to go. It's the same movie as last year and he doesn't want to waste money seeing it again. Doesn't matter that it's been our own special Christmas tradition for the past 3-4 years, he still won't go.

So yeah, now Christmas isn't going to be as special and exciting as it used to be. This was the one thing that I could honestly say was just mine and my dad's. No Margie, no Eddie, no nobody, just me and him. It was special to me and now it's gone.

So sorry if I'm not as excited as usual about Christmas this year. It just seems to have lost some of it's sparkle. It's not going to be the same. The tree, the cookies, church, just isn't going to be the same.

I think for the first time in my life, I am actually not looking forward to Christmas.

awww... I hope even though some traditions are ending, maybe this year you'll start a new one or two. I'm gonna have to try to make sure of that

No, I'm just done with Christmas. I always seem to be let down during this time of the year anyway. So rather then get my hopes up, I'm just not gonna care.

Aww, that's really sad. Let me know if there's anything I can do, okay?
